An optical system images the scene in a plane of a multi-element series detector. A scanning mirror (2) moves periodically and reciprocally the scene image orthogonally to the detector series, guiding it during time-sequential scanning movements along scanning lines. Light emitters (6) are arranged in a row, with each emitter allocated to an individual detector via an amplifier (5). A correction element (20) consists of an optical deflector and an electric system for alternating swivel of the deflector into two defined positions. It is fitted in the beam path between the light emitters and the scanning mirror, and is controlled by the signals (14) actuating the line scanning of the mirror. The light from the scanning mirror is supplied to an observer.
