PURPOSE:To obtain polyurethane beads excellent in abrasion resistance, impact resistance and mechanical strengths by dispersing a polyisocyanate prepolymer in particulate form in water containing a suspension stabilizer and reacting the prepolymer by heating. CONSTITUTION:A polyisocyanate prepolymer is dispersed in particulate form in water containing a suspension stabilizer and reacted by heating to obtain polyurethane beads. The resulting mixture is subjected to solid/liquid separation, and the solid is washed and dried to obtain the purpose polyurethane beads. When a bifunctional isocyanate-terminated urethane prepolymer is used as the polyisocyanate prepolymer, thermoplastic urethane beads are obtained. When an at least trifunctional isocyanate-terminated urethane prepolymer is used as the prepolymer, three-dimensionally crosslinked urethane beads are obtained. |
