A process is described for the preparation of compositions intended to control body odour due to sweating, which contain a heterocyclic thiol compound and a topical vehicle, the said compositions being for topical application to the skin in the region of the armpit or crutch or articles of clothing which are worn close to the skin, in a reliable and effective quantity. The deodorant agents which can be applied include heterocyclic thiol compounds, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, including a heterocyclic ring structure containing at least one hetero atom in the ring structure selected from the group comprising oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur; the said heterocyclic structure having at least 1 thiol substituent attached to a carbon atom in the said heterocyclic ring.
