PURPOSE:To provide the composite sintered body which has a high density, high strength, high toughness, less degradion in the characteristic at a high temp. and has a fine structure by forming a crystal phase of two phases ; mullite and zirconia or three phases ; mullite, alumina and zirconia. CONSTITUTION:The sintered body whose crystal phase consists of the two phases ; mullite and zirconia or three phases ; mullite, alumina and zirconia, and which has the compsn. existing in the range enclosed by the points CDEF formed of a straight line (a) of 55/51 ZrO2/SiO2 molar ratio, a straight line (b) of 55/45 ZrO2/SiO2 molar ratio, straight line (c) of 45/55 SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio, and a straight line(d) of 8/92 SiO2 /Al2O3 molar ratio and contains <=0.2wt.% metals excluding Zr, Al and Si, is made to the useful composite sintered body as the high temp. structural material. |
