PURPOSE:To prevent reduction in the number of engine revolutions and deterioration in the purification of exhaust gas, by providing an injection timing calculator for adjusting the injection start timing for air-mixed fuel in response to the result of a comparison made between a detected number of revolutions and a target number of revolutions. CONSTITUTION:The apparatus has a number-of-revolution detector 31 for detecting the number of engine revolutions, a number-of-revolution comparator 32 for comparing the detected number-of-revolution of the detector 31 with a target number of revolution, and an injection timing calculator 33 for adjusting an injection start timing for an air-mixed fuel in response to the results of the comparison. The calculator 33 causes the injection start timing to be angularly advanced when the number of engine revolutions is smaller than the target number of engine revolutions, and also causes the injection start timing to be angularly delayed when the former is larger than the latter. This arrangement prevents reduction in the number of engine revolutions, increase in the fuel expenditures, and deterioration in the purification of exhaust gas.
