An elongate hole (20) is made, the long dimension of which is perpendicular to the joint plane (12) separating the concrete slabs (1), the said elongate hole (20) being arranged symmetrically with respect to the said joint (12), by using a drilling (piercing) template (3) having a longitudinal slot (34) formed by intersecting (secant) openings (33). The elongate hole (20) is cleaned and its walls are lined with binder. A small quantity of sealing mortar is deposited in the said elongate hole (20) before the dowel (2) is positioned. A joint body (13) is inserted above the dowel (2) and in the joint plane (12), then the filling of the elongate hole (20) and the production of a sealing joint above the said joint body (13) are completed. <IMAGE>
