PURPOSE:To prevent wrong initialization of a storage medium by enabling a user to unload the storage medium to be initialized before initialization from a designated position and confirm that his designation is correct. CONSTITUTION:This initializing device executes its initializing process when a storage medium 1 is again loaded on a designated driving device 9 after the medium 1 mounted on the driving device 9 is once unloaded from the device 9 before starting the initializing process and it is directly confirmed that the medium 1 is the medium to be initialized. When it is found that the medium is not the medium to be initialized as a result of the confirmation, an initialization stopping operation is made through an input device 6. As a result, the initializing process is stopped and, even when the unloaded medium 1 is reloaded, the medium 1 is not initialized. Therefore, wring initialization can be prevented. |
