Roller conveyor with section brakes - has rollers driven via limited torque clutches and with pneumatic tube to brake selected roller groups

The conveyor has a number of rollers (2) with parallel axes to move the items. A common drive (5, 6) operates on all the rollers, each of which is fitted with a limited torque clutch (2b). Groups of rollers are positioned over pneumatic tubes (14), which when inflated press onto the rollers and cause them to stop, with the clutches preventing the drive stalling. The movement of the items is monitored and a programmed processor control regulates the brakes to space the items w.r.t. the process stages. A simple pneumatic supply (19) feeds the separate hose brakes. USE/ADVANTAGE - Conveyor is simple to operate, no stalling of drive, enables simple drive to be used.
