A stacking tube (1) for specific coins is fixed to a pedestal (2) between two spindles (4,4a) driven by endless belts (15) from a stepping motor (3). The coins (16) are stacked on a plate (5) raised by bars (13) projecting through vertical slots (12) into the tube (1) from nuts (14) advanced by rotation of the spindles (4,4a). The content is evaluated from the number of steps required to break an optical barrier (8b) at the top where a coin is ejected (17). ADVANTAGE - Counterfeit money is excluded and true coins are selected whether as winnings or by operation of coin return knob.
