A thread accumulator for textile machinery is mounted as a barrel revolving on a vertical shaft. The barrel is constructed in the middle as a series of equidistant blades with a larger outside dia. at the top and the bottom, forming a surface for thread to wind on, and off. The wind off section at the bottom has angled blades interspersed, leaving a gap at each side for a hook tool to be inserted, which is capable of removing any residual fibre. Pref. the barrel has a series of blades around a centreshaft, and joined together at the top only. The blades are reduced gradually in thickness, and rounded at the bottom. Another ring is screwed into the bottom of the shaft, and has blades interspersed which have an angle on the outer surface. The bottom of the blades are close to the top of the bottom ring and held at the correct distance apart by the bottom screw. This also retains the complete barrel assembly to the shaft. The thread accumulates in windings, which pass down to wind off the surface. Friction removes fibres which form a ring. This is removed by a hooked tool which may be inserted between the blades. USE - As the accumulator winds on thread, the turns press down the barrel, so that friction removes fibre from the thread, which then forms a ring at the bottom. This is removed by the hook.
