PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst having enough heat resistance and high purifying activity for-exhaust gas by constituting the catalyst of a high-silica zeolite ion-exchanged with platinum group metal and a heat-resistant oxide containing platinum group metal. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst is produced by mixing components (a) and (b) into a pellet form or the like. The component (a) is obtd. by ion-exchanging a high-silica zeolite having >=40 Si/Al with at least one platinum group metal such as Pt, Pd, Ph, Ir, and Ru in a proper soln. The component (b) is obtd. by depositing at least one kind of platinum group metal on a heat-resistant oxide comprising Al2O3, TiO2, ZrO2, SiO2, etc., or multiple oxide of these. Or the catalyst is obtd. by depositing components (a) and (b) on a honeycomb monolithic carrier by various methods. Thereby, the obtd. catalyst is excellent in heat resistance, durability and catalytic performance. |
