A nitrite-free, aqueous wet temper pass agent that prevents staining of the rolls and corrosion of temper rolled sheet steel or galvanized sheet steel, contains at least one benzoylalanine of general formula (I) or its salts, at least one monocarboxylic and/or dicarboxylic acid, at least one alkanolamine, possibly an aromatic sulfonic acid and a water hardness complexant, the remaining being water. A process is also disclosed for temper rolling hoop-steel and galvanized hoop-steel with the disclosed wet temper pass agent. |
