PURPOSE:To obtain an appropriate translated word by generating a virtual noun phrase in which two arbitrary case elements are components in an input sentence, and working a selecting function by using its virtual noun phrase. CONSTITUTION:A verb conversion processing means 11 in a converting means 4 fetches a verb from a result of word division and syntax analysis of an input sentence being an output of an analyzing means 2, and subsequently, fetches a particle of each element for modifying its fetched verb from a result of analysis of the input sentence. Thereafter, by setting its verb and particle patterns as keys, a conversion dictionary 5 is retrieved, its English expression and the virtual noun phrase generating designation are obtained, and the English expression related to the verb therein is obtained. In the case the virtual. noun phrase generating designation is obtained at the time of verb conversion, a virtual mouse phrase generation processing means 12 generates a virtual noun phrase in accordance with its virtual nouse phrase generating designation. Subsequently, a noun conversion processing means 13 derives a translated word of the noun of each case element of the analyzed input sentence by retrieving the conversion dictionary 5. In such a way, an appropriate translated word is selected. |
