PURPOSE:To automate the work of adjusting a positron CT device by storing the relation between a digital signal obtained from signals output from photomultiplier tubes and information on position discrimination in advance in a position discriminating circuit which discriminates between positions of each scintillator on which gamma rays are incident. CONSTITUTION:A position discriminating circuit 4 uses signals X, Y output from two respective photomultiplier tubes 3, 3 to output signals P0, P1 indicating the position of each scintillator 1. The adders 9A, 9B of the discriminating circuit 4 output X+Y and N1X + N2Y, respectively. The N1, N2 are weight factors. An A/D 10 outputs the ratio of N1X + N2Y to X + Y as a digital signal. The scintillators 1 are individually exposed to gamma radiation at the stage of adjustment of each detector single body and the position data P0, P1 of each scintillator 1 is written on an address corresponding to the output of the A/D 10 in a RAM 12. Position information can thus be obtained from the address of the RAM indicated by the output of the A/D 10.
