PURPOSE:To discharge air bubbles which enter a passage easily, and save the quantity of ink which is required to discharge the air bubbles by filling a liquid which does not increase the wetting property on a nozzle surface, in the passage at the time of transport or storage. CONSTITUTION:When a head is shipped and stored as a single unit, an ink feeding port 2 is attached on an ink jet recording head 1, and the terminal end is sealed, and ink passages 9 are formed in the recording head 1, and are filled with transport liquid 10. The liquid to be filled retains hydrophilic effect for a hydrophilic-treated surface, and does not increase the wetting property of a nozzle surface, and the liquid has a group which hydrogen-bonds with an -OH group on the hydrophilic-treated surface, and the vapor pressure is not higher than 5mmHg (25 deg.C). Such type of liquid is polyhydric alcohols such as ethylene glycol, etc. By applying a liquid such as mentioned above at the time of shipping, wetting of an ink in the passages is retained, and entered air bubbles can be easily discharged, and an ink quantity which is used to discharge the air bubbles can be saved. |
