PURPOSE:To reduce the scale of the hardware of the system so as to effectively utilize electric power by using a variable bit-rate type demodulator and setting bit rates corresponding to the kind of communication service in the MODEM of each slave station simultaneously with the frequency assignment whenever a terminal originates a call. CONSTITUTION:When the terminal 104b of a slave station (b) transmits the content of communication service and a bit rate to the demand assignment multiple access connector(DAMA) 102, of a host station, the DAMA 102 selects a frequency for communication by taking the band corresponding to a request into account and designates lines to the DAMAs 103b and 103c of slave stations (b) and (c). The stations (b) and (c) set the frequencies and bit rates of the synthesizers of the variable bit-rate MODEM 103b and 103c of their own stations to the designated values. When the station (c) selects a terminal in corresponding to the content of the communication service thereafter, a satellite line is set between the stations (b) and (c) in corresponding to the bit rate of the content of service. Therefore, a DAMA communication system is constituted with a small scale of hardware. |
