System for feeding wood chips or annual plants to continuous cookers intended for the production of paper pulp. The system comprises two stages: A first impregnation stage where the chips are impregnated with the quantity of chemical reactants necessary for their cooking by impregnation with heating in alkali or alkaline-earth metal solutions, and are then drained. If annual plants are involved, they are mixed mechanically with alkali and/or alkaline-earth metal reactants and with a minimum of hot water to obtain a mixture with the appearance of wet fibres. A second stage where the above impregnated product is pumped directly into the cooker under pressure using a hydraulic piston pump, the plug formed in the pipework connecting this pump to the cooker producing the sealing and the necessary pressure resistance.
