SOLID ELECTROLYTE MADE OF POLYCRYSTALLINE SINTERED BODY

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a solid electrolyte having improved strength without deteriorating high oxygen ion conductivity of stabilized zirconia by forming a sintered body contg. a metal oxide chiefly present in the grains of stabilized zirconia. CONSTITUTION:A solid electrolyte is made of a polycrystalline sintered body consisting of stabilized zirconia and a metal oxide. The stabilized zirconia has >=2mum average grain size and >=90% of the zirconia is cubic zirconia. The metal oxide is chiefly present in the grains of the stabilized zirconia. The density of the sintered body is >=95% of the theoretical density. The metal oxide is preferably present in the solid electrolyte by <=10mol%.
