The catheter (2), inserted into the desired heart chamber (3) via a suitable vein or artery, consists of a treatment head (6) which is connected via an insulated supply tube (5) to a heart pacemaker control (1). Electrode head is designed as a helix which can be screwed into the wall of the heart to facilitate a firm location. Catheter is constructed to allow the passage of a treatment head expansion current to enhance effectivity, and treatment head cooling fluid to allow ease of withdrawal. The working head is at least partially, of memory metal and expandable, at least in the radial direction, through heating. When cooled, it returns to its original rest position. USE/ADVANTAGE - Easier application and withdrawal catheter electrode for monitoring/stimulation of heart activity and the coagulation of undesired tissue cell development.
