Proposed is a method of determining parameters for the pilot-control of the position-control signal for one axis of a machine tool with numerical continuous-path control. If, for the ith axis, the pilot-control parameters are known up to and including the nth-order parameters, an n+1-order parameter can be determined by taking, for this axis, a position-control signal (20) in the form of an n+1-order parabola. From the control deviation (22) which results, and the amplification (K) produced by the control unit (11) and the n+1th derivative of the position-control signal with respect to time, an n+1-order pilot-control parameter can be determined.
