The invention relates to water-free (anhydrous), liquid recording materials for machine or hand writing instruments, characterised in that they contain about 1-20% of polymeric dyes or about 1-20% of dyes bonded to polar and/or ionic polymers via primary (principle) valencies and/or secondary valencies and/or dipole forces, about 0.5-20% of polymers in high-boiling solvents having an evaporation index of greater than 1000 and have a viscosity of less than 100 mPas/sec at 20 DEG C.
