1,192,261. Centrifugal pumps. A. BLUM. Jan. 19, 1968 [Feb. 28, 1967], No.2913/68. Heading F1C. A submersible pump 11, 12, Fig.3, is lowerable into a container or sump by a cable 13 and is guided thereinto by a pair of channels 17, 18 each receiving a peripheral portion of the connecting flange 15 of the pump discharge conduit 16. When the pump is lowered to the position at which the flange 15 is opposite a connecting flange (19), Figs. 1 and 4 (not shown), of a fixed delivery pipe (20), the flange 15 abuts a pair of stops 21, 22 and the pump initially assumes the dash-line position shown. Thereafter, further lowering of the cable 13 enables the pump to rotate about the axis of the conduit 16 to the full-line position shown, during which rotation a pair of diametricallyopposite wedge-shaped surfaces 23 slide behind the adjacent side wall of the associated channel to thereby press the flange 15 into sealing engagement with the flange (19).
