PURPOSE:To reduce shearing stresses and tearing forces of large magnitude acting on the surface of a rubber material and improve resistance to chip-cut by embedding staple fibers in a rubber material so as to be exposed from the surface thereof and orienting most of the fibers in a direction normal to the surface of the rubber material. CONSTITUTION:Staple fibers 3 are mixed into a rubber material 2, wherein the fibers 3 are oriented in a direction normal to the front surface 2a and rear surface 2b so as to be exposed therefrom. The base ends 3a of the fibers 3 are embedded as deep as 0.1mm or more in the material 2, while the tips 3b of the fibers 0.01-1.00mm in length are exposed from the surfaces 2a, 2b. And 50% or more of the fibers are oriented in a direction normal to the surfaces 2a, 2b, wherein the occupying area of said fibers is 2-40%. As raw rubber for the material 2, natural rubber, synthetic polyisoprene rubber and urethane rubber can be used independently or in the form of a mixture thereof. As the staple fibers 3, cotton, rayon, wool, polyamide fiber or other synthetic or natural fibers, cut to the size of 0.5-10mm, can be used independently or jointly. |
