METHOD OF SHAPING NATURAL LEATHER

The underside of natural leather is coated with a polyurethane layer which, in a subsequent shape-pressing process, penetrates into the leather layer to a certain depth. By means of a subsequent reactivation process, a so-called barrier layer is formed, which imparts a dimensional stability to the leather covering and at the same time preserves the leather-specific surface structure unchanged. This method is suitable in particular for real leather coverings of moulded parts.
