TITLE Fiber-Optic Modulator INVENTOR Richard J.F. Normandin New all-optical modulators that use nonlinear refraction and absorption to modify fiber-to-fiber coupling are disclosed. No resonators, feedback or stringent wavelength contols are needed. Implementations of the AND, NOR, NOT and XOR gates with better than 20 dB contrast ratio are described and demonstrated. |
