The invention relates to a device and a method for fitting hollow, elastic parts to objects of different configuration. The tool 11 holds onto the part 25 on a part of the periphery. The part is prevented by a counter- stay 12 from slipping off the free end 24 of the object as the tool follows the periphery a turn, so that the part boards the object. The counter-stay is removed and the tool is able to rotate the desired number of turns along the periphery at the same time as feeding is proceeding.
