The present invention relates to ball-joint prostheses. The prosthesis according to the invention is characterised essentially by the fact that it comprises at least one cup 4 defining a hemispherical hollow recess 5 with a radius of curvature R, a ball 6 with a radius of curvature r smaller than R, first spherical beads 7 having a diameter equal to the difference between the said radii R and r, second beads 37 having a diameter smaller than that of the first beads 7, the ball 6 being situated in the recess 5 such that its centre is coincident with the centre of the recess in order to define, between it and the recess, a hemispherical space 12, the beads 7, 37 being arranged in this space between the wall 9 of the recess 5 and the wall 10 of the ball, and means 11 for holding the beads 7, 37 in the space 12. Application in particular for constructing a coxofemoral prosthesis or a knee prosthesis. <IMAGE>
