Pigment compsns. (I) are claimed, contg. 99-30 mol.% quinacridone-quinone of formula (II), 0-60 mol.% of the corresp. quinacridone (III) and 1-10 mol.% of a 7,15-dihydropyrido-(2,1-b) (1',2'; 1,2)-pyrimido-(4,5-g)-quinazoline-7,15-dione (IV), (III) and (IV) being present inthe crystal lattice of (II) where R = H, Cl, or Me. (I) are prepd. by dissolving the components in 5-20 pts. wt. 96-100% H2SO4 at 0-40 deg. C, and treating with 5-20 pts. wt. (w.r.t. acid) of water at 0-30 deg. C (pref. ice-water). More specifically ratios of (II):(III):(IV) (mol.%) are (99-75):(0-15):(1-10), or (54-25):(45-65):(1-10) with R = H.
