The loader (1) for automatically loading pallets onto heavy goods vehicles or trailers consists of lifting tines. The fork lift moves horizontally and vertically and has at least two tines. The fork-lift is enclosed in a frame protruding like a gantry over the vehicle being loaded. The tines tilt to match the slope of the lorry surface. In the case of more than two tines, the outer tines are lifted in relation to the inner tines. The outer tines have mechaincal sensors. USE/ADVANTAGE - The vehicle or trailer can be loaded or unloaded on both sides.
