PURPOSE:To obtain a sintered material of aluminum nitride having excellent light screening properties and thermal conductivity, stably providing characteristics thereof by blending AlN as a main component with a Ti compound and a TiO compound. CONSTITUTION:This sintered material of aluminum nitride comprises AlN as a main component, contains a Ti compound shown by the formula TinO2n-1 and colors in black This sintered material of aluminum nitride has preferably <=5% percent transmission of light ray at 500nm wavelength and >=120w/mk thermal conductivity. The sintered material of aluminum nitride is produced by the following method. Namely, AlN powder is mixed with 0.05-5.0wt.% calculated as Ti of Ti compound and a sintering auxiliary compound and molded to give a molded article, which is heated in the atmosphere, in a nitrogen gas or in hydrogen gas atmosphere or in a mixed atmosphere thereof, the residual carbon is made <=0.2% and the resulting material is sintered in a nitrogen-containing nonoxidizing atmosphere at >=1,600 deg.C. |
