PURPOSE:To produce the title high-purity substance in high yield by subjecting tetrafluoroethylene and trichlorofluoromethane to addition reaction in the presence of a catalyst of a Lewis acid such as AlCl3 in a specific molar ratio. CONSTITUTION:In producing the title substance by adding trichlorofluoromethane (R11) to tetrafluoroethylene (4F), the existing molecular ratio of 4F and R11 is made 1<=4F/R11 (preferably 1.01<=4F/R11<=10) and the reaction is carried out in the presence of a catalyst of a Lewis acid. Since concentration of R11 in a reactor is minimized, R11, 4F and the catalyst are continuously fed to the reactor and the reaction mixture is successively taken out so that concentration of each component can be maintained constant and if 4F is used in excess, the concentration of R11 can be suppressed to the minimum. In the reaction condition, in the case of continuous operation at -20 to 100 deg.C under 0-10kg/cm<2>, retention time of the reaction solution is preferably 1 minute to 10 hours. |
