In a well drilled in rock, hydrogen sulphide is prevented from forming in the water by feeding a vol of water contg a bactericidal substance, eg chloride, and an oxidising substance, eg potassium permanganate, at normal or excess pressure to the bore hole and the adjoining fissure system. |
