<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the light shutting area as a display and provide a matrix type display device having a high share of opening by allowing an electrode of a capacitor for retaining electric charges for image signals to serve also as the light shutting part between picture element fragments. CONSTITUTION:Between divided picture element electrodes P11, P12, an electrode is formed as extension of a line electrode wiring g2 previously when the line electrode wiring is formed, and thereon part of electrodes P11, P12 is put one over another while dielectric substance such as an insulative film for line electrode wiring is interposed, and capacitors Cst1, Cst2 for retaining electric charges are formed by overlapped part of these electrodes. Light leak between electrodes is perfectly prevented by allowing, in such a manner, the capacitors Cst1, Cst2 to serve also as light shutting part, and also the area of the light shutting part can be suppressed to possible minimum, and the light transmission quantity as a display panel can be utilized effectively.</p> |
