Flow restrictor for hydraulic system - has spring flap that moves to pass blocking particle and returns to original position

A flow restrictor of a type suitable for use in a hydraulic system is located within a block (10) and is in the form of a cylindrical insert (13) in a flow path. The insert is cup-shaped with the end formed as a cantilever flap (18) creating an orifice (21). In the event of a partial blockage occurring, the pressure increases and the flap moves to allow the source of blockage, e.g. foreign particle, to pass. The flap then returns to its original position. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. in hydraulic braking systems. Simple means of avoiding blockage.
