A seat support for an office chair or the like comprises a seat plate which accommodates the seat cushion and is pivotably connected to a basic body in the region of its front end, retaining devices on the basic body for the attachment of a chair column, and a backrest and an angled backrest support connected to the backrest, an approximately horizontally extending lower portion of the backrest support being pivotably connected to the basic body, and a gas spring being provided which is connected, on the one hand, to the basic body and, on the other hand, to the backrest support and restores the backrest support. To achieve a simple stable construction consisting of few individual parts, provision is made for the backrest support (4) to be connected to the basic body (1) via a sliding block (18) which forms a pivot bearing (23) and is displaceable in a sliding manner along a particular path section in a cam recess (17) of the basic body (1), the seat plate (2) resting in a sliding manner on the horizontal portion (6) of the backrest support (4). In this case, the seat plate (2) advantageously consists of an integral metal plate which is largely without interruptions and is reinforced by rib elevations, and the basic body (1) consists essentially of a single injection moulding. <IMAGE> |
