The vacuum-distillation apparatus disclosed has a container designed to hold a liquid and connected to a vacuum pump, a heater unit for heating the container in orger to evaporate the liquid, a condenser for condensing the vapour and a receiver for the condensate. In order to make the apparatus simpler, more rapid and more economic to use, as well as ensuring that the design meets the requirements for continuous distillation, the invention proposes that the heater unit comprises a vacuum-tight chamber (1), designed to hold the container (2), and a microwave source (13, 13.1) designed to generate microwaves and feed them into the vacuum-tight chamber (1). The chamber (1) is fitted with a connection (38) to the condenser (8) and the vacuum pump (36). Located at the bottom of the chamber (1) is an access port (6) with a door (4, 5) which can be moved vertically by a drive unit (7) in order to close the access port (6) and hold the container (2) in place. The chamber (1) and/or door (4, 5) are fitted with a seal (19, 19.1) to ensure a vacuum-tight seal round the access port (6).
