The silencer for internal-combustion-engine exhaust tubes consists of an outer laminar cover 1 inside which there are two consecutive expansion chambers 4 and 5 delimited by a multiperforated cylinder 2 covered by a roll of stainless-steel swarf on which is arranged a heat- resistant fibre layer 3, whilst a spiral partition 7 arranged on a central shaft 6 is located inside said expansion chamber. <IMAGE>
