A base platform 1 carries a plurality of flexible skirts 5a-5c enclosing sealed inflatable bags 6a-6c which may be of different sizes or may be formed of elastic material so that they may be inflated to different sizes. A gas bottle 7 and conduits 8 form the means of inflation for the bags and air for the cushions is delivered from a fan through flexible ducts 9 sealed within the bags 6a-6c. In a further embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) each bag is secured to a base member (12) spaced from the platform 1 to diffuse the air flow into the cushion, end skirts being capable of retraction by winches (10). The end bags are provided with rubber support pads (18) and in a still further embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) inflatable balloon members 15 within the inflatable bags are associated with a pressure release valve. |
