PURPOSE:To easily obtain feature point even for an image having a smooth change in gradation and to improve processing speed by obtaining matching candidate point by means of rough positioning and obtaining a matching point by means of the matching around the matching candidates with the use of original image data. CONSTITUTION:The number of density level is reduced by a gradation conversion circuit 3, and the matching candidate points are obtained by means of the rough positioning by an edge point matching circuit 6 with the use of edge image data for each reference image and object image extracted by an edge point extraction circuit 5. The matching point is obtained by means of the matching of the original image data around the matching candidate points by an original image matching circuit 7. Thus, the positioning can be executed at enough high speed compared with the conventional two stage search, and this method can be used also for an image which has no feature points such as clear edge points in the image. |
