A method for producing a compound by general formula 1 where R stands for a hydrogen atom or a group α- or β-CH3 whereas Z stands for an oxygen atom or β-0-tertbutyl and α-H. The method is distinctive in that the endione or its derivative by general formula 2 where Z signifies as above, undergoes the process of reductive silylation by means of a silyl chloride R'3SiCl by general formula 3, where R' stands for an alkyl group, in which carbon atoms to silyl enolates ratio is C1-C4, Z signifies as above; the compounds are then reacted with ketals by general formula 4where R signifies as above, in the presence of Lewis acids to receive derivatives of hydrindane by general formula 5 where R and Z signify as above; these derivatives cyclise without purification into compounds described by the general formula 1.<IMAGE>
