PURPOSE:To allocate one relay circuit to two relay systems so as to commonly use them and to prepare a cheap and inexpensive repeater by installing two sets of optical receivers, optical transmitters, junction circuits, receiving selecting circuits, and transmission selecting circuits. CONSTITUTION:The present invention relates to a repeater apparatus realying between segments consisting of an optical receiver 101 and optical transmitter 109 corresponding to the first segment, and an optical receiver 102 and optical transmitter 110 to be connected to the second segment, one set of junction circuits 105-107, a receiving selecting circuit 104 for connecting signals from optical receivers 101 and 102 to junction circuits 105-107 of a segment to which a receiving signal reached earliar, and a transmission selecting circuit 108 that outputs a signal to be interchanged only to the optical transmitter connected to the segment opposite to a segment that selectively received the signal. Further, the present repeater is provided with a selected state holding means 103 that holds a selected state of this receiving selecting circuit 104 and that of the transmission selecting circuit 108 until a set time duration ends after terminating interchange processing. With this, one junction circuit 105-107 is allocated to two junction systems by order of arrival of a signal at optical receivers 101 and 102. |
