The test probe establishes reliable contact even with narrow guage wires. A hand-grip has a side projection for an external lead connection. A push-button element connects to a rod that slides with a tube section to operate the clamping elements of the probe. At the end of the rod is a clamping block with a V-shaped jaw. Any wire being gripped for test purposes locates between this jaw and a fixed jaw. A pin and spring loading ensures good contact with the wire.
