PURPOSE:To provide a resin composition excellent in impact strength, flame retardancy, flow and extrudability by mixing a rubber-modified vinylaromatic resin of specified properties with a polyphenylene ether, red phosphorus and a mineral oil in a specified mixing ratio. CONSTITUTION:97-75 pts.wt. rubber-modified vinylaromatic resin in which the proportion of rubber particles of a particle diameter of 3-6mum is at least 60wt.% based on the total weight of the rubber particles dispersed in the resin matrix (e.g. polybutadiene rubber-modified polystylene) is mixed with 3-25 pts.wt. polyphenylene ether [e.g. poly (2,6-dimethyl-1, 4-phenylene ether)]. 100 pts.wt. obtained resin component is mixed with 1-15 pts.wt. red phosphorus and 0-10 pts.wt. mineral oil to produce a flame-retarding resin composition. This composition can be desirably used for large moldings such as television cabinets. |
