In a stud and socket fastening a stud 30, Fig. 1, has a helical cam slot 31 at one end thereof and, having a screw-threaded portion 32 which receives nuts 33, 34 thereon, is attached to a vehicle chassis 35, and a socket fastening has a housing 10 having a portion 20 thereof which supports a pin 21, Fig. 3, for engagement with the cam slot 31 in the stud 30 and carries a retaining washer 24 thereon, the housing 10 also being provided with a handle 11. The pin 21 is attached by means of members 22, 23 to the housing 10. The part 20 of the housing 10 is passed through an opening 37 in a bonnet 13, clearance being provided to allow rotation of the housing by means of its handle 11. A coiled compression spring 12 serves to maintain the pin 21 in engagement with the slot 31 and, on release of the fastening, urges the housing 10 away from the bonnet 13 and from the stud 30. A pad 36 may be provided to facilitate rotation between the housing and the bonnet.</p> |
