<p>PURPOSE:To output a response signal only when there is no abnormality by executing self-diagnosis while making use of the time from when a reset signal is received to when the response signal is outputted. CONSTITUTION:When a user inserts an IC card 10 in a reading/writing device 20, the reset signal is outputted by the reading/writing device 20 to a signal line RST. Then the self-diagnostic processing is executed. That is, in the IC card, the work of this self-diagnostic processing is preliminarily described in a ROM 11 and programming is made so that, when the reset signal is inputted, the self-diagnostic processing can be executed. This self-diagnostic processing is a processing in which the IC card 10 confirms that it operates normally. Thus, even when there is abnormality inside the IC card, an accident that may result in the destruction of the user's data is prevented.</p> |
