PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst having a high rate of purification of exhaust gas especially contg. unburned methanol and aldehydes by coating a three- dimensional structure with a catalytic compsn. consisting of Pd, Ag, a fireproof inorg. oxide and an alkali metal oxide. CONSTITUTION:A three-dimensional structure is coated with a catalytic compsn. contg. Pd, Ag, a fireproof inorg. oxide such as alumina or silica and an alkali metal oxide such as potassium oxide and/or an alkaline earth metal oxide such as magnesium oxide. When the resulting catalyst is used, unburned alcohol and/or aldehydes contained in exhaust gas from an internal-combustion engine using alcohol are oxidized at a high rate of conversion and the catalyst is durable and has superior purifying ability even in a low temp. range. |
