<p>Liquid nutrient media for microbe cultivation are sterilised in the cold by the addition of 0.01-0.1, pref. 0.05% of peracetic acid. After 30 mins, an equivalent amt. of a reducing agent (e.g. cysteine) is added to decompose the peracetic acid. Peracetic acid possesses an extraordinarily high germicidal ability covering all types of germs and their spores, virus and mycoplasm. The method is simple, inexpensive and of wider application.</p> |
