PURPOSE:To prevent an air bag from being damaged by a bolt by extending a core member embedded in a pad member to a position where the core member roughly coincides with the end periphery section of the air bag, and thereby catching the bolt which fastens a base plate with a steering wheel side member, by the core member. CONSTITUTION:An air bag device 30 has a center pad 3 attached onto a section faced to the cabin N side of a steering wheel 1. In this case, a core member 3b embedded in the inside of the center pad 3 is extended to a position where its end periphery section 3b' coincides with the end periphery section 15a of an air bag 15. And respective end periphery sections 15a and 3b' are fastened to the flange section 9a of an inflator support member 9 with a fastening fixture 19 together with a base plate 5. This thereby permits the tip end section of a bolt 23 which threadedly fixes an inflator cover 21 onto the base plate 5, to abut against the core member 3b, thereby preventing the air bag 15 from being damaged by the tip end section of the bolt 23. And foreign objects, moisture and the like are prevented from coming in the air bag device 30 with a bolt installation hole blocked with the core member 3b. |
