A method for preparing a tetrahydropyran derivative having general formula (I) by reducing an epoxy of general formula (II) with a mixture of lithium borohydride and a titanium derivative. In formulae (I) and (II), R1 is an alkyl radical and R2 is an alcohol function protector grouping. In formula (II), R3 is a leaving grouping (methanesulphonyloxy).
