PURPOSE:To obtain the titled clad glass with less solarization, the numerical aperture of which can be increased at a low refractive index, having excellent chemical durability, without depositing a crystal, and having excellent fusibility to phosphate laser glass by composing the glass out of phosphate glass having a specified composition distribution. CONSTITUTION:The clad glass for a glass fiber laser is composed of, by mol, 50-65% P2O5, 10-15% Al2O3, 1-13% B2O3, 8-20% K2O, 5-20% MgO, 0-8% Na2O, 0-5% CaO, and 0-1.5% of at least one kind among Nb2O5, TiO2, and CeO2. The clad glass has less solarization and excellent chemical durability and fusibility to phosphate laser glass (core glass), the numerical aperture can be increased at a low refractive index, and a crystal is not deposited. Accordingly, high-speed repeated oscillation and continuous oscillation are made possible by combining the clad glass with the core glass, and further a fiber laser having a high output can be obtained. |
